Virgin TV customers will feel the burn this summer as Sky Sports and Sky Movies monthly fees are set to creep up by £2.50 and £1 respectively.
As with the incoming rises due to hit Sky TV subscribers pockets, existing punters can expect to start paying the new prices from June 1 onwards; new customers yet to sign up for Virgin Media will have to start paying the new rates from this Friday April 29 onwards.
A Virgin Media spokesperson has supplied Recombu with the full list of price changes, adding: “Virgin Media confirms that from 1 June 2016, it is increasing the cost of Sky Sports and Sky Movies on its TV service, and it is currently writing to customers to inform them of the changes.
How can I watch Sky Sports?“Sky has increased the costs for Sky Sports and Sky Movies for its customers and for Virgin Media this means having to reflect these increases to our customers.”
Taking all seven Sky Sports channels normally costs £29.25/month on top of a Virgin TV subscription, which start at £20/month for TV on its own or £10 (plus £17.99 line rental) for a Virgin TV and landline deal. The basic price for Sky Sports will go up to £31.75/month.
Can I Use Sky Go As A Virgin Media Customer
Additionally, Sky Movies currently costs £20/month for access to all 11 Sky Movies channels – this will be going up to £20/month later this year.
Customers who take both sets of premium channels will however only pay an additional £2.50 on top of their regular TV package.
Similarly, Virgin Media bundles like the Big Kahuna Sports and Big Kahuna Movies (including Virgin Media’s top tier 200Mbps broadband and over 230 TV channels) will see respective increases of £2.50 and £1 kicking in, but those with the Big Kahuna Sports & Movies deal will pay an extra £2.50/month instead of £3.50.
The standard price of Virgin Media’s VIP bundle (200Mbps broadband, all TV channels in HD where available and unlimited landline calls) will not go up.

While prices are going up, Virgin’s spokesperson was keen to remind us that over 1,000 movies will be available to watch on demand via Sky Movies along with European Tour and PGA Tour Golf, the entire Investec Test Cricket series and all 126 Premier League games on Sky Sports next season.
